Hospital Chairman’s Message

DR. C.P.ABDUL RAHMAN

Chairman, Highland Hospital

At the outset, let me congratulate you on choosing to pursue a career that matters and makes a difference in the lives of people wherever you may go. It is a known fact that there aren’t many more professions more respected and valuable to the healthcare scenario than nursing. As the healthcare landscape continues to evolve and grow at a fast pace, the role and need for a workforce of highly educated nurses are becoming even more critical.

Nursing is a true calling, a healthcare profession that involves years of training and continued specialized education to care for patients in a variety of scenarios. Nurses are often the first healthcare professional that patients meet hence what makes them even more important. They are also a bridge between the doctor and patient. Nurses do more than just care for individuals, in fact, they have varied and valuable roles to play. “Nurses dispense comfort, compassion, and caring without even a prescription-” These words of Val Saintsbury perfectly define this noble profession, and also embody our vision to make remarkable nursing professionals out of our students.

Mangalore College of Nursing endeavors to instill the five C’s of caring: Commitment, Conscience, Competence, Compassion, and Confidence in its students and implanting in them the values of patient-centered care, while training them to develop a compassionate approach to care, and also enhancing their chances at career advancement.
